Recording Now Online: A Deep Dive into the New VREF African Research Programs in Mobility & Access

On Wednesday, September 17, the VREF Mobility and Access in African Cities (MAC) program hosted a vibrant Research Forum to introduce three new, multi-year African Research Programs (ARP-MACs). For all who were unable to attend, the complete recording of this insightful event is now available.

The forum provided a crucial platform for the VREF community to engage with the leadership of these new programs, understand their state-of-the-art comparative research goals, and explore opportunities for collaboration. Moderated by Jane Summerton, the session highlighted the innovative approaches these programs will take to improve conditions for urban mobility and access in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Session Highlights:

  • Welcome and Introduction by Henrik Nolmark, VREF.
  • Presentation of ETAMAC (“Equitable Transport Access and Mobility in African Cities”) by consortium leader Gift Dumedah (KNUST, Ghana), with discussion from Alexander Boakye Marful (University of Rwanda).
  • Presentation of MID-UTA (“Governing Urban Mobility”) by consortium leader Gladys Nyachieo (Multimedia University of Kenya), with discussion from Hannibal Bwire (University of Dar es Salaam).
