VREF invites the public to the 2025 Håkan Frisinger Award Presentation and Seminar, honoring Dr. Björn Nykvist for his influential work on the system impacts and viability of long-range Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and heavy-duty electric trucks.

    • Måns Nilsson, Executive Director of the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI)
    • This presentation will provide a broader view of the international/climate dimensions of electrification and SEI’s research contribution to understanding and solving the problem.
  • 15.00–15.30 “BATTERY ELECTRIC VEHICLE TECHNOLOGY TRENDS”
    • Dr. Björn Nykvist, Head of Division – Global Agendas, Climate and Systems, Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI)
    • Dr. Nykvist will overview his research on technology trends in battery electrification and discuss his ongoing and future research at Lund University concerning electric vehicle longevity and battery lifetimes.

  • 16.00–16.30 “NOT ALL CHARGING POINTS ARE ALIKE – MODELS AND INVESTIGATIONS ON THE NEED FOR CHARGING INFRASTRUCTURE”
    • Frances Sprei, Professor in Sustainable Mobility, Chalmers University of Technology
    • This talk will present studies on the need for charging infrastructure, including investigations into user behavior’s impact on charging and simulation models for long-haul truck electrification in Europe.

The seminar is moderated by Lars J. Nilsson, Professor and Head of Department of Technology and Society, Lund University.

The Håkan Frisinger Foundation for Transportation Research was created in 1999 to honor Håkan Frisinger, former Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of AB Volvo, for his work and leadership within the Volvo Group. The Foundation is under the umbrella of the Volvo Research and Educational Foundations (VREF).
