Bridging Generations for a Zero-Emission Future – Young Leaders’ Perspectives for Just Transformations to Sustainable Transport
A paper by SLOCAT-VREF Young Leaders in Sustainable Transport
Since its launch in May 2019, the SLOCAT and VREF Young Leaders in Sustainable Transport programme has worked to build bridges between the established transport community and the next generation of professionals. Recognizing young people as the vanguards of climate action, the programme empowers them with the skills to turn evidence-based analysis into policy.
Now, as we look toward COP30 and its ”Global Mutirão” initiative – which places people at the very center of climate action – the voice of youth is more vital than ever.
In this spirit, we are proud to present the work of the programme’s fifth cohort. These Young Leaders are sharing their unique perspectives on effective climate transformations, covering critical areas such as energy, freight transport, road safety, and transit-oriented development. Their work outlines how global goals can translate into local realities and highlights the synergies with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
