Effective skills and tools for communicating research outcomes

Overview

Boost your research capabilities with a comprehensive online course, “Effective Skills and Tools in Communicating Research Outcomes”, running from February 13 – 17, 2025. This certified and asynchronous training is designed for postgraduate students, early career scholars and professionals in Sub- Saharan Africa, with a minimum of Bachelor degree or its equivalent.

Communicating research outcomes to a variety of audience is very crucial for efficient implementation of projects and research outputs for a sustainable policy formulation, especially in the transport logistics, entrepreneurship, and innovation technology as well as supply chain management networks. It has therefore become imperative for post graduate students and early career scholars in Sub- Saharan Africa to be equipped with basic skills and tools that would enable them understand research in order to effectively communicate results from research and projects to audiences in a seamless and coherent manner. The following faculties shall deliver the course:

Purpose and Goals: The course is set to equip post graduate students and early career researchers in Sub- Saharan Africa on the requisite skills and tools for effective delivery and reportage of research results to varying audience. The specific goals of the course would be achieved in line with the modules revealing that at the end of the course, participants should:

  1. Understand the requisite Skills for Presenting Research results to target audiences
  2.  Be knowledgeable of the roles of early career scholar in consultancy services in the area of mobility and access
  3. Understand Material review, Analytical processes and data synthesis as basis for effective presentation
  4. Assimilate basic elements of effective oral and visual presentation using modernised tools
  5. Be endowed with Strategies for actionable, business and policy- oriented recommendations
  6. Be able to differentiate between presenting facts and opinions
  7. Identify available options for online reporting, knowing implications for  the researcher and target audience/client
  8. Be able to use graphics (info-graphics and visualizations) in technical presentations
  9. Be able to present research findings in  consistence with the client culture
  10. Effectively understand techniques for sharing complex statistics with non- statistically oriented audience
  11. Be proficient in the use of different software tools for solving research problems 
  12. Understand the implications of integrating findings and results from multiple sources into a  presentation
  13. Understand the differences between a report and presentation.
  14. Be endowed with knowledge of ethical issues related to the reporting and interpretation of research findings
  15. Know Intellectual property rights and patents for unique research outputs.
